✅ Before You Burn (Mandatory)
Obtain a permit at: gh.burnpermits.com
Be as detailed as possible on your permit application
Call (855) 536-2344 to start a burn event(This call is not required for campfires or burn barrels)
✅ What You SHOULD Do:
✔ Call in your burn before ignition (except campfires/burn barrels)
✔ Burn only brush and clean wood
✔ Burn during daylight hours (except campfires)
✔ Keep the burn at least 10 meters from combustibles (trees, crops, buildings, etc.)
✔ Keep campfires/burn barrels/bonfires no larger than 3 feet or 1 meter in diameter
✔ Keep agricultural or other burns within 20 × 20 × 6 feet
✔ Have proper extinguishing tools ready (e.g., water, hose, extinguisher)
❌ What You SHALL NOT Do:
✘ Do NOT burn:
Garbage, plastics, rubber, asphalt
Construction materials
Petroleum-based products
Aerosol or pressurized containers
Livestock or animals
Anything harmful to the environment
✘ Do NOT leave fires unattended
✘ Do NOT let smoke reduce visibility on roadways
✘ Do NOT burn during an official burn ban
✘ Do NOT exceed permitted fire size
✘ Do NOT exceed one burn at a time
⚠️ Penalties
Failure to follow the bylaw may result in:
Fees and charges for fire department response
Provincial offense notices (fines)
MECP(environmental fines)
