Volunteer Opportunities

The Heritage Grey Highlands Committee advises Council on the identification, conservation, and promotion of cultural heritage resources and properties of historic or architectural significance.

 

  • Support: Corporate Services
  • Type: Advisory Committee of Council
  • Purpose: Advise Council on heritage matters in accordance with the Ontario Heritage Act.
  • Mandate: Review and recommend heritage matters, promote public awareness of cultural heritage, research heritage resources, recommend properties for designation, and liaise with heritage organizations.
  • Authority: Advisory only, with no independent authority or ability to direct staff.
  • Composition: Council representative, alternate Council member, and up to six (6) citizen volunteers from the community.
  • Meetings: Minimum of four (4) meetings per year, open to the public.
  • Budget: Access to a Council‑approved annual budget for heritage‑related expenses. Citizen members serve without remuneration.
