Rocklyn Arena Temporarily Closed, Following Independent Health and Safety Assessment

Grey Highlands, ON - July 17, 2026- The Municipality of Grey Highlands has made the difficult decision to temporarily close the Rocklyn Arena following the findings of an independent environmental assessment that included mould and indoor air quality testing.

Given the seriousness of the conditions identified, the Municipality made the decision to close the facility to prevent any potential exposure while further assessment and remediation planning are undertaken. Protecting the health and safety of staff, volunteers, user groups, renters, contractors, and members of the public remains our highest priority.

The assessment, conducted by an independent occupational health and safety consultant, identified conditions within the facility that require further investigation and remediation before the building can be safely reoccupied. Based on the consultant's findings, the Municipality determined that a temporary closure was the responsible course of action while further professional advice and remediation planning are undertaken.

All affected renters and user groups have been contacted, and staff are actively assisting with alternative arrangements to help ensure planned events and activities can proceed with minimal disruption.

The Municipality is actively working with remediation specialists to identify the most appropriate path forward and develop practical solutions to address the issues identified in the assessment.
