Grey Highlands Fire & Emergency Services to Host Camp Molly
GREY HIGHLANDS, ON (May 14, 2026) — Grey Highlands Fire & Emergency Services is committed to protecting the community while supporting education, prevention, and the future of emergency services. This August, that commitment continues through Camp Molly, a nationally recognized fire service education program for youth.
Camp Molly is a four-day, hands-on camp for participants aged 15 to 18 that introduces careers in firefighting and emergency services. Training is delivered by experienced firefighters and includes fire suppression, auto extrication, firefighter survival, medical and CPR instruction, emergency communications, fire prevention, and public education.
“Hosting Camp Molly is a tremendous opportunity for our community and our fire service,” said Grey Highlands Fire Chief Marty Wellwood. “It gives young people meaningful exposure to the profession while building confidence, leadership, and practical skills that will serve them well, whether they pursue a career in emergency services or not.”
The program is open to young women and non-binary youth and is designed to increase awareness of fire service career pathways while promoting teamwork and leadership.
Founded in 2019, Camp Molly operates across Canada and is named in honour of Molly Williams, recognized as North America’s first known female and first known Black firefighter. The program was established to address underrepresentation in fire services through early, hands-on exposure.
