Council Highlights June 17, 2026

Council Highlights from the June 17, 2026, Council meeting:

•   During Open Forum, residents spoke on items: Ceylon Site Alteration and Fill Project Update and the Escarpment Corridor Alliance presentation

• Council heard presentations from Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority on watershed quality and the Escarpment Corridor Alliance on the South Georgian Bay Ecological Corridor.

•  A lease agreement with Southwest Crematoriums Ltd was approved.

• A noise exemption for the Markdale Agricultural Society Co-Ed Slo Pitch Tournament (July 24–25).

• Council approved an extension to the Part Lot Control By-law for Centre Point South (Devonleigh).

•  Zoning by-law amendments were approved, affecting the following properties:

o   Z22.2025 West Back Line

o   Z30.2025 Canyon Hill Developments

o   Z12.2026 Grey Road 40

o   Z13.2026 Blue Mountain Maples Road.

• Staff were directed to prepare a report on the feasibility of Household Hazardous Waste services at the Markdale-Holland site.

• Council adopted the updates to the Adopt-A-Road Policy.

• Council adopted the amendments to the Procurement By-law.

• Council received an update on the purchase of a Generator/Light Tower funded through the Community Emergency Preparedness Grant.

•  Council approved a by-law to change the speed limits on a portion of 3rd Line A to 50km/hr.

•  Council received updates on the Ceylon Site Alteration and Fill Project and municipal grant applications and directed staff to provide a deadline of July 15^th to complete a land survey.
