Council Highlights from the September 2, 2026 Council meeting:
- Presentations to Council:
- Markdale Wastewater Development Charges
A by-law will come forward to the next Council meeting for Area Specific DC Charges to support the expansion of the Markdale Lagoon, helping ensure growth-related infrastructure costs are supported by future development. - Bridge E12 Rehabilitation Approved
A contract valued at approximately $189,000 was awarded for rehabilitation work on Bridge E12. - Planning Applications Approved
Several zoning by-law amendments were approved to support residential, agricultural, and commercial projects across Grey Highlands. - Stonebrook Subdivision
Municipal infrastructure within Stonebrook Phase I and II has been formally assumed by Grey Highlands and will now be maintained by the Municipality. - Comprehensive Zoning By-law Decision Deferred
Consideration of the new Comprehensive Zoning By-law and related Official Plan Amendment has been deferred to September 16, 2026. - Stothart Hall Accessibility Improvements Moving Forward
Plans for improved accessibility at Stothart Hall will move forward to tender. - Rotary Park Bridge Replacement Progresses
Council authorized the required landowner permissions to enable the next stage of the Rotary Park Bridge replacement project led by the Rotary Club of Markdale. - Seniors Advisory Committee request
Age-Friendly flags will be purchased and raised to recognize National Seniors Day on October 1, 2026. - Recognizing the Hamlet of Egypt
Following correspondence from residents, Council directed staff to report back on options and costs for signage recognizing the Hamlet of Egypt. - September Town Hall Cancelled
Council cancelled the September 15, 2026, Town Hall meeting due to its proximity to the municipal election. - R-Zone Policy
Council provided direction to staff to review the R-Zone policy and provide recommendations for clearer language and process'
