Council Highlights for July 8, 2026

Council Highlights from the July 8, 2026, Council meeting:

 

  • Council presented the 2025 OPP Officer of the Year Award to Provincial Constable Jason Steward in recognition of outstanding service, professionalism, and commitment to the Grey Highlands community.
  • Staff will proceed with a request for proposal for the vacant Georgian Heights municipal building at 726024 Sideroad 22B, Rocklyn.
  • Direction was provided to staff to work with the Rotary Club of Markdale on the Rotary Park bridge replacement project and bring forward a report outlining options.
  • Lift of Hold application was approved for 140 Peters Crescent.
  • A heritage agreement was approved for 156386 Seventh Line, Rocklyn, allowing the owner to receive a Heritage Property Tax Rebate.
  • Zoning by-law amendments were approved for the following:
    • Z14.2026 – 194519 Grey Road 13
    • Z15.2026 – Fairmount Farms
    • Z17.2026 – 308114 Centre Line A
  • The Kimberley-Amik-Talisman Water Treatment Plant Optimization and Capacity Study follow-up report will come back to a future Committee of the Whole meeting for discussion.
  • Amendments to the Municipal Fees and Charges By-law were approved, including adding the Pickle Pass program and updating flag rates.
  • Council approved issuing a tender for the Fire Station 1 (Flesherton) Addition Project, which will provide space for an additional tanker truck and new female shower facilities.
  • The contract for the Highway 10 Connecting Link reconstruction project in Markdale was awarded to Cox Construction.
  • Council acknowledged the Escarpment Corridor Alliance and its work toward ecological connectivity.
  • Council directed staff to amend the Procedure By-law to limit community members to two committee, board, or task force appointments and a maximum service period of eight years.
  • Staff were directed to prepare a report on options to restrict parking on the unopened portion of Kinburn Street in Eugenia.
