Celebrating 25 Years of Community in Grey Highlands

Grey Highlands, ON (May 7, 2026) — Grey Highlands’ 25th anniversary celebrations are underway across the municipality, marked by anniversary flags now flying throughout the community in recognition of this milestone year.

Council members, municipal staff, and members of the Grey Highlands 25th Anniversary Committee recently came together at the Municipal Head Office in Markdale to mark the occasion with a commemorative flag raising. Additional anniversary flags are now displayed throughout Grey Highlands, and residents are encouraged to watch for them in communities, villages, and public spaces across the municipality.

In 2001, the Village of Markdale and the Townships of Artemesia, Euphrasia, and Osprey came together through Ontario’s municipal restructuring process to form the Municipality of Grey Highlands. This amalgamation united historic communities and hamlets — including Eugenia, Flesherton, Ceylon, Maxwell, Singhampton, Priceville, Kimberley, Feversham, and others — under one municipality with shared services and a common vision for the future.

In 2026, Grey Highlands proudly marks 25 years since this important moment in local history. Throughout the anniversary year, the municipality will celebrate the heritage of its former townships, recognize the villages and hamlets that shape its identity, and honour the people and stories that continue to define Grey Highlands today while looking ahead to the future together.

Anniversary celebrations will take place at several community events across Grey Highlands throughout the year, offering many opportunities for residents to take part in the celebrations and connect with their community.
