Update on the Markdale Arena Following August 3rd Fire

Grey Highlands, ON: The Municipality of Grey Highlands continues to work diligently in response to the fire that occurred at the Markdale Arena on August 3rd. We recognize the significance of this facility to our community and appreciate the public’s patience and understanding during this time.

This matter is currently being handled through our insurance provider. The Municipality is actively collaborating with the insurance adjuster, a team of experts, and the insurance company to ensure a thorough and timely investigation.

We are committed to supporting this process and will continue to advocate for a resolution that prioritizes community needs.

In the interim, all rental groups have been successfully accommodated at alternate facilities for the upcoming ice season. We understand the importance of these programs to residents and are doing everything possible to minimize disruption.

“The Markdale Arena has long been a cornerstone of our community, and we understand how deeply its temporary closure affects residents,” said Mayor Paul McQueen. “We are working closely with our insurance partners and experts to ensure a thorough investigation and a timely path forward.”

We will continue to provide updates as new information becomes available. Thank you for your continued support and resilience.
