Grey Highlands Fire Department Receives Major Safety Upgrade Thanks to Community Support
Grey Highlands, ON – The Grey Highlands Fire Department is proud to announce a significant enhancement to firefighter safety, made possible through the generous support of two valued community partners.
Through its ENB Fueling Futures program, Enbridge contributed $7,000, while Trillium Mutual Insurance, via its ROOTS Community Fund, provided an additional $6,000. These funds enabled the installation of advanced gear extractors and dryers at Fire Station 1.
This new equipment ensures faster, deeper cleaning and drying of turnout gear—critical for reducing exposure to harmful contaminants, extending gear life, and improving overall firefighter health and safety. Clean, dry gear means our volunteers can return to service quickly and confidently, ready to protect the community.
“Our firefighters face challenging conditions every time they respond to a call,” said Marty Wellwood, Fire Chief of Grey Highlands. “This investment helps safeguard their health long after the fire is out. We are deeply grateful to Enbridge and Trillium Mutual for their commitment to the people who protect us.”
The Grey Highlands Fire Department remains dedicated to advancing firefighter safety and strengthening community partnerships. Together, we are fueling the future and growing stronger roots in Grey Highlands.
