Due to a vacancy, The Municipality of Grey Highlands is receiving applications to fill one (1) position of Parks and Recreation Caretaker.

What you will do:
Reporting to the Team Leader, the successful candidate will perform duties in accordance with departmental and corporate work plans and priorities, including but not limited to the following:

• Ensuring accurate and efficient records and documentation of custodial activities of the facility including, but not limited to, tracking cleaning and regular maintenance activities.
• Facilitating the use of the facility for the public (set-up, take-down, general upkeep).
• Cleaning and caring for buildings and facilities to ensure they are maintained in a safe and healthy manner.
• As applicable, maintain all cleaning and sanitation protocols as established by Public Health Ontario, the Grey Bruce Health Unit, and the recommendations of the Ontario Recreational Facilities Association (ORFA) to deal with matters of public health concern in all Municipal spaces.
• Maintaining storage areas, cleaning equipment, materials, and supplies in a safe and orderly manner to ensure the safety of staff and the public (secure storage areas, ensure cleaning supplies are safely stored, monitoring and maintaining adequate inventory and restocking supplies, make note of the need for equipment repairs).
• Working safely within the law and safe work practices/procedures (understanding and following standard operating procedures, wearing personal protective equipment, using MSDS information, ensuring all guards are in place)
• Immediately reporting unsafe acts, conditions, or contraventions of the OHSA to a supervisor, the JHSC, or a Health & Safety representative.
• Performing other duties as assigned in accordance with corporate objectives.
• Availability on weekends, evenings, and daytime shifts is required.
What the ideal candidate will possess:
• OSSD (Grade 12) or equivalent.
• Valid Class G driver’s license with clean drivers abstract.
• A minimum of one (1) year experience in custodial work.

We are seeking volunteers to site on the newly created Solid Waste Task Force (SWTF). The task force is responsible for undertaking a review of current solid waste, recycling, and diversion services in Grey Highlands and providing recommendations to Council relating to solid waste, recycling, and diversion services in the municipality.

Mandate:

• To review the current solid waste, recycling, and diversion services provided by the municipality; and

• Research available curbside collection services and diversion programs in other municipalities and best practices; and • Develop a final report to Council including recommendations for changes to, improvements of, and/or provision of new solid waste/recycling collection
