 Emergency Management Week 2018

Be Emergency Ready – Stay Connected

Emergency Preparedness (EP) week 2018 (May 6-12), is a Canada wide initiative to increase awareness of individual and family preparedness. This year’s theme “Be Emergency Ready – Stay Connected” which reinforces the importance of individual and family preparedness, while promoting new emergency alerting tools now available to all Canadians, such as wireless public alerting through the Alert Ready system.

While public alerting is a great initiative, not all devices are compatible of receiving these alerts. Only devices that are LTE, 4G, or WPA-compatible will be able to receive alerts from the Alert Ready system. A province-wide test of the Alert Ready system took place on May 7, 2018 at 1:55pm EST and a second will occur on September 19, 2018.  For more information on the Alert Ready system and to check your phones compatibility

It is strongly suggested that Ontarians also subscribe to receive Provincial Emergency alerts by email, SMS, text or Twitter. To register for Provincial alerts
