Council Highlights March 20, 2024

This is a summary of the meeting items and not inclusive of all agenda items. All items are contained in the minutes.
- Council received a delegation from Dave Meslin on turtle protection. Council received the delegation for information and requested a staff report on a potential working group.
- Council supported awarding tenders for the following:
- RFT-F18-2024-01 for a single axle plow truck with combination dump & spreader body and snow plow harness to Lewis Motor Sales Inc. for $376,284.
- RFT-F18-2024-02 calcium chloride - Liquid 35% to Da-Lee Dust Control for $339,500.
- RFT-F18-2024-03 crushed granular to Walker Aggregates, Seely & Arnill Construction and Robson Haulage.
- The Council meeting scheduled for June 5th has been moved to May 29th to accommodate Council members attending the Federation of Canadian Municipalities Conference.
- Starting March 25th, the Winter burial charge may be waived to allow for early spring interments.
- Council received updates on Municipal Arena and Hall usage.
- Council supported several recommendations related to municipal facility rental fees. An updated Fees & Charges By-law will brought forward for approval.
- Council referred a list of recommendations for the Community Grant Program for 2024 to a future Committee of the Whole meeting for further discussion.
- A report detailing the repairs necessary for the Kimberley Hall was received. Council approved contracting the work to AGW Construction and deferred funding the $85,000 cost to the Special Budget Council meeting.
