Grey Highlands Council met through a virtual meeting on June 15 at 1 p.m. The meeting was streamed live for the public to watch as well as recorded (link below).
- Mayor McQueen welcomed Councillor Valiquette back after her leave to run as an MPP for the Green Party
- Debbie Anderson, CBO, Grey Highlands introduced two new building inspectors, Robert Botrie and Derrick Cornfield
- Mayor McQueen declared a pecuniary interest regarding a rezoning for PL-2269 under 8.8. Z-42-20-21
- CAO Kim Wingrove, County of Grey provided updates on County activities focused on Grey Highlands
- Deepikaa Gupta, Grey Bruce Local Immigration Partnership (GBLIP); Suneet Kukreja, Settlement & Languages Services (YMCA dept.); and David Morris, Welcoming Communities Grey Bruce (WCGB) presented how they act as a circle of support for newcomer integration
- Diane Kennedy spoke on behalf of the Maxwell Park Committee -
Cody Maxwell,regarding an initiative to build a new children's park at the former Maxwell baseball diamond - Council directed staff to work with the Maxwell Park Committee to move the project for a new children’s park forward and $50,000 for the project to be included in the 2023 budget discussion
- Council approved a Special Event Permit for the Markdale Recreation Committee to hold a Canada Day celebration at the Centre Grey Recreation Complex and King Edward Park
- Council released $100,000 from obligation for broadband initiatives in the Canada Community-Building Fund so that the funds are available for use in the 2023 capital budget
- Council approved the proposed 2023 budget guidelines and schedule
- Council authorized entering into a five-year agreement with Advantage Data Collection for the inspection and inventory of regulatory and warning signs to begin in 2022, for an annual cost of $16,825 (excluding HST)
- Council directed staff to prepare a report on the feasibility of the relocation of the Beavercrest baseball backstop project
- Council requested staff come back with a report to Council on road safety around construction/development sites
- Council requested staff to create a public education campaign on road safety around construction/development sites

- Council approved a request for the EDCIA for an in kind donation to help with the Eugenia Gold Rush with road blocks, tables and chairs
- Council approved a request for the EDCIA for $750 for advertising and signage
- Council approved a request from Markdale Ag Society an in-kind donation of rentals for Judges School and 3 trivia nights at the Centre Grey Community Complex
- Council approved an internal $10,000 transfer to parks and recreation budget for oversight on the Feversham Agricultural Society building of a track shelter and track repair
- Council approved a request for Feversham Kinsmen for an in-kind donation of 20 meeting rentals at Osprey Hall
- Council approved a request from Feversham Kinsmen for an in-kind donation of the rental of Osprey Hall for December 2nd to 4th, 2022
- Council approved a request from Feversham Kinsmen for an in-kind donation of the rental of Osprey Hall on July 2nd, 2022
- Council approved a request from Feversham Kinsmen for an in-kind donation of the rental of Osprey Arena Floor for a fall Fair dance (mid September)
- Council approved a request from the Feversham Kinsmen for $2,000.00 for an outdoor movie night
- Council denied a $6,000 request from Feversham Park Committee for additional snowflake lights in Feversham
- Council approved a request from Flesherton Kinsmen of an in-kind donation of the Kinplex rental for two meetings per month
- Council approved an additional request from Friends of the South Grey Museum for $700 for the Canada Day breakfast from the Celebrate Canada Funding Grant
- Council approved a request from Friends of the South Grey Museum for an in-kind donation of the Kinplex for the Canada Day breakfast
- Council approved a request from Friends of the South Grey Museum for an in-kind donation of 12 meetings at the KinplexCouncil approved a request from Markdale Minor Soccer for an in-kind donation of grass cutting at 200 Isla St.
- Council approved a request from Markdale Minor Soccer for an in-kind donation of weekly trash collection
- Council approved a request from Markdale Recreation Committee for an in-kind donation of 12 meeting rentals at Centre Grey Complex
- Council approved a request from Markdale Recreation Committee for an in-kind donation of 10 meeting rentals for Arts & Crafts at Centre Grey Complex
- Council approved a request from Markdale Recreation Committee for an in-kind donation of the Markdale Complex arena floor and cleaning for drop in ball hockey
- Council approved a request from Markdale Recreation Committee for $1,000 for Canada Day Event - RAD to be funded by Celebrate Canada Funding Grant
- Council approved a request from Markdale Recreation Committee for an in-kind donation of set up and advertising for Canada Day Event – RAD
- Council approved a request from Markdale Recreation Committee for $500 for an outdoor movie night

- Council denied a request from Priceville Improvement Committee for $1,000 for ten Canada Banner Flags
- Council approved a request from Priceville Improvement Committee for $200 for Annual Flowers for Community Signs
- Council approved an additional request from the Rotary Club of Markdale for $400 for an Easter Egg Hunt
- Council approved a request from the SEGCHC for $3,000 for community garden project
- Council approved an internal transfer of $8,475 to the Parks and Recreation budget for an updated storage room for South Grey Minor Hockey at the Flesherton Arena
- Council approved a request from the VON Grey-Bruce an in-kind donation of the Markdale Hall rental twice a week for 48 weeks, including snow removal
- Council nominated Councillor Nielsen for the executive board of the Community School Alliance
- Seven by-laws were approved including by-laws to adopt a Mutual Drain Conveyance Agreement, rescind Procurement Policy ADM-07-05, zoning bylaws to amend the Municipality of Grey Highlands Comprehensive Zoning By-law for applications Z42.2021 – McQueen and Z13.2022 – Douillard, a By-law to designate the Old Baptist Chapel a Heritage Designation, to appoint building inspectors and adopt a Mutual Drain Conveyance Agreement - 7th Line
- Council directed staff to investigate the feasibility of a potential Lake Carrying Capacity Study including efficacy, scope, timelines to execute, costing, and funding options and the information be brought back to Council through a staff report
- Council requested staff to include options for removing and or reducing parking space requirements for residential development during the review of the existing Grey Highlands Comprehensive Zoning By-law
- Council received the request from Councillor Nielsen to exceed the regular conference budget of two and approve Councillor Nielsen to attend the AMO Conference in August at a cost of no more than $2,100 to be funded from the council reserve
- Council proceeded into closed session to discuss matters related to Crematorium Agreement - s. 239 (2)(k)
- Council directed staff to negotiate an updated lease agreement for a minimum term of 30 years with the operators of the Crematorium on the Flesherton Cemetery grounds
