Business opportunities are abundant in both the industrial and commercial/entrepreneurial sectors. Join some of the largest manufacturers in the area including Chapman's Ice Cream and Ice River Springs! The Municipality, along with the 2 active Chambers of Commerce, is participating in a Business Retention & Expansion Study which will assist in expanding local businesses and attracting new ones to the region.
Existing commercial, industrial and residentially zoned properties ensures that businesses and families can continue to grow and expand in the urban centres. The Markdale Sewage collection System is currently undergoing major upgrades to allow for future expansion in Markdale in addition to reducing operation and maintenance costs. Grey Highlands is host to emergency services, a hospital, medical & dental offices and is actively recruiting physicians to the area.
Amenities and cultural attractions abound. The Library system has 3 branches and the South Grey Museum and Osprey Museum exhibit the history of southern Grey County and unique travelling exhibits. Several fine art & craft galleries and studios, antique stores and unique heritage architecture can be found. In addition the Flesherton Farmer's Market, featuring local produce and crafts is open on Saturdays throughout the summer. Participation in civic life is important here, with volunteers involved in recreation and committees.
