Tourism & Recreation in Grey HighlandsBiking in Grey Highlands Grey Highlands offers unrivaled biking for one and all. From casual cycling to groups of racers, we have it all. Grey Highlands offers a full range of challenging hills on paved roads with amazing scenic views to easier trails on flatter terrain. Tour the area on bicycle and savour the vistas.
Biking RoutesBeaver Valley TourThere are many scenic biking routes on paved roads in Grey Highlands. For example start in Flesherton and go east along Grey Road 4 to Grey Road 13 or Beaver Valley Road, go left and follow it into the Beaver Valley. Past Kimberley stay on Road 13 and follow it to Heathcote. Turn right at the 10th line, then left on Grey Road 19 to Ravenna. Go right on Grey Road 2 through Kolapore to Feversham. Turn right on the 8th Concession over the Eugenia Lake causeway and back to Flesherton by turning left at Grey Road 13 and right at Grey Road 4. About 60K. For more bike routes see the fall colour tour map (2MB). These driving routes also make great bike trips. Underground Railroad RouteFollow the route that escaped slaves used to get to Owen Sound from the United States. Bike route maps were created to help participants imagine what it was like for escaped slaves in the 1800s. Map Section 5 includes Grey Highlands to Owen Sound. Biking the CP Rail TrailThe rail trail is a multi-use trail which starts in Dundalk, goes through Ceylon and Markdale and ends in Owen Sound. Grey County maintains the trail and is working to improve it. There are parking spaces for trail users in Markdale on Grey Road 12. Karst Off Road TrailThis trail meanders through the bush from The Beaver Valley Ski Club to Talisman Village Resort. The best access is at the 90-degree bend on Grey Road 30 near the intersection of Grey Road 13. Park at the gate and ride over the bridge. Follow the path north or go south to Talisman.
Cycling EventsBicycle Poker RideThe Bicycle Poker Ride is held during Eugenia Gold Rush Days in July and is approximately 20 km on mostly paved roads around Lake Eugenia. |
