Biking in Grey Highlands

Grey Highlands offers unrivaled biking for one and all. From casual cycling to groups of racers, we have it all. Grey Highlands offers a full range of challenging hills on paved roads with amazing scenic views to easier trails on flatter terrain. Tour the area on bicycle and savour the vistas.

Biking Routes

Beaver Valley Cycling Tours
There are many scenic touring routes throughout Grey Highlands. Whether you’re taking a drive, a hike or
hopping on your bicycle try out some of our roads and trails. Bicyclist, for example can try out a couple
Centurion Routes – a 50 km loop which runs through Beaver Valley linking Collingwood, the valley and up to Craigleith. A 100 km. route developed for the Centurion Road Race also features Beaver Valley – but goes as far as Badjeros to the south and through Eugenia and on up through Epping to Slabtown and around
through Ravenna and Banks in Town of the Blue Mountains back to Rob Roy in Grey Highlands. A route developed by Grey County called “The Nooner” loops from Clarksburg in the north down through Rocklyn and back. Cyclists are increasingly using county and municipal roadways to get around, stay fit and
see some scenic sites along the way. For more details on the routes, see the latest Grey County Cycling Routes map at http://www.visitgrey.ca/travel-guides/?item=168 or pick up a copy at various tourism information centres including the South Grey Museum in Flesherton at 40 Sydenham St. N.

For more bike routes see the fall colour tour map (2MB). These driving routes also make great bike trips.

Underground Railroad Route
Follow the route that escaped slaves used to get to Owen Sound from the United States. Bike route maps were created to help participants imagine what it was like for escaped slaves in the 1800s. Map Section 5 includes Grey Highlands to Owen Sound.

Biking the CP Rail Trail
The rail trail is a multi-use trail which starts in Dundalk, goes through Ceylon and Markdale and ends in Owen Sound. Grey County maintains the trail and is working to improve it. There are parking spaces for trail users in Markdale on Grey Road 12.

Karst Off Road Trail
This trail meanders through the bush from The Beaver Valley Ski Club to Talisman Village Resort. The best access is at the 90-degree bend on Grey Road 30 near the intersection of Grey Road 13. Park at the gate and ride over the bridge. Follow the path north or go south to Talisman.

Cycling Events

Bicycle Poker Ride
The Bicycle Poker Ride is held during Eugenia Gold Rush Days in July and is approximately 20 km on mostly paved roads around Lake Eugenia.
