Are you on the voters list?

If you are not on the Voter's List or the information about you is incorrect, you may go to the Municipal Office, 206 Toronto Street South, Unit 1, Markdale between the hours of 8:30am and 4:30pm to fill out an application to be added to the list. Please note that the Clerk will require that you provide proof of identification or proof of qualification as an elector. Please call the Municipal Office to determine what documentation you may need.

What School Board do I vote for?

Each elector is eligible to vote for school board representation, if qualified. It is important that electors check their status on the Voter's List to determine whether they have been listed as an elector for the correct school board and if not correctly listed, that they apply to the Clerk to amend the list prior to attending the voting place.

NOTE: Voters must be Roman Catholic and be otherwise qualified as electors to be separate school electors. (Where your children attend school does not have any bearing on voter qualifications.)

The following is a list of the School Boards for which qualified electors will be entitled to vote unless there are acclamations. Electors are entitled to vote for only one school board.

  1. Bluewater District School Board (English Public)
  2. Bruce-Grey Catholic District School Board
    (English Separate)
  3. Conseil Scolaire de District des Ecoles Catholiques du Sud-Ouest (French Separate School)
  4. Conseil Scolaire de district du Centre-Sud-Ouest (French Public)

I have just moved, where do I vote?

Each person only has one permanent residence. An individual who moves during the qualification period (September 7th – October 25th) is required to vote at their new address.

Where do College and University students vote?

Students who reside "away from home" may vote in both places - within the Municipality where they attend school and also within the Municipality where their family resides (their 'home') if it is their permanent residence.
